Giving feels good!

Remember how good it feels to reach out to help someone in need? If it feels so good, why don’t we do it more often? The answer to that question is often, “I don’t have the time. I don’t have the money. I don’t know what to do.” Well, we have an idea. What if you could easily add giving to your daily routine? What if an opportunity for giving was simple and took a moment of your time?
Crazy Idea #1  Exercise and Food
People usually exercise so they can have more food.  We wondered if people would exercise so they could have less food.  What?!?
First, we found a small organization that needed help, a community center in an underprivileged neighborhood that wanted to offer one meal a day to hungry kids. They have a kitchen but they needed food. Then we asked a fitness instructor if she would be willing to dedicate one class to test our idea.  She agreed and asked her class if they would be willing to donate a can of food for the kids at the center. Drum roll……..In one hour, their fitness class collected enough food to fill an SUV. Guess what? The class attendance doubled for that event. Sixty people showed up! Yeah, 60! People chose that class because they could exercise AND make a difference.
Good 2 Go is a simple idea that connects daily activity with generosity. People connect. People gather. People do things together. Why not use everyday activities as an opportunity to give? How about adding giving to your book club, bible study, picnics, parties, sporting events?  Every group event is an opportunity to Do Good.
It’s simple.
1. Contact a local charity, their web sites have a “wish list” of non-monetary items.
2. Call, email, text, tweet your friends and family about your Good 2 Go idea.
3. Have fun.
4. Collect the items and deliver them to the non profit.  They may even pick up.
5. Feel Good.
6.  Share your story with us!
